Senior Director of Residential Programs

Dan is a Licensed Social Worker who has experience working with both community-based organizations and government agencies, providing services to underserved populations, victims of crime and survivors of domestic violence. He has been working in the field of Social Services for 15+ years. He is an alumnus of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, graduating with his Bachelor’s Degree in Deviant Behavior and Social Control. He then went on to obtain his Master’s Degree in Social Work from Hunter Colleges’ Silberman School of Social Work.

Dan has been working with victims of intimate partner violence since 2008. He began his career with Safe Horizon as a case manager and worked his way up to, Director of their Domestic Violence Police Program as well as a Hotline Supervisor at their Domestic Violence Hotline. After seven years, Dan transitioned from working at a non-profit agency to working at the Mayor’s Office to Combat Domestic Violence as a Policy and Training Coordinator. In this role, he utilized his knowledge and experience to create and provide trainings to city agencies, such as Dept. of Homeless Services, Dept. of Probation, NYPD and the NYC Sheriff’s Dept. on various topics related to domestic violence.

In 2017, Dan returned to the non-profit sector as the Program Manager of the Violence Intervention Program’s emergency shelter. He has since been promoted to Senior Director of Residential Programs at VIP. In this capacity, Dan is responsible for the oversight of VIP’s Emergency Shelter Program, Transitional Housing Program, the 24/7 Bilingual Hotline and the Rapid Re-housing Program.
