Economic Justice and Survival Program

Abuse is not just physical. Economic abuse—using money as a tool for power and control—occurs just as frequently as physical and emotional abuse and can be an overwhelming hurdle. VIP aims to promote self-sufficiency through a series of financial literacy and economic empowerment services. If you think you are experiencing financial abuse, call our hotline at 1-800-644-5880.

Through financial literacy training, we help survivors set up bank accounts, establish credit, set goals, balance a budget, and learn other essential financial skills. We work to raise client awareness through workshops about financial abuse and the influence of systemic structures on women’s relationship with money.

Violence Intervention Program also promotes self-sustainability through our Manos de Esperanza project, which connects survivors to training on how to start their own cooperative business.
